yes, 192.168.48.42 is a local machine on my LAN. My cable modem service was around 12mbit down.

Is 192.168.48.42 a local machine, perhaps even localhost? it must be because it doesn't make any sense that you would get that speed over the internet.

Damn dude. I never knew the details of what happened before. I can't really imagine the scale of what you're going through, but if I can ever do something to help you out, let me know.. particularly once you're able to go back to work (I know the one honest recruiter in CA) and/or ready to go to school (i.e. I'll give you my musings on community college options. ; P )

I was gonna write about my setup at some point, but I'm lazy and here is a teaser.
I am not using any hardware for the server. Just running a Virtual Private Server instance using Gentoo. I have a Linksys PAP2 on my home network, for converting 2 regular phone devices, fax machine, cordless phone, so they speak SIP to my Asterisk.

I was getting the same type of error
sox soxio: Failed reading `test.wav': unknown file type `auto'
Installing the rest of the codecs as you described solved it.

I'm with you I am 46 w/ DDD and life has been tough. SSI is a joke and I live on $339 from State Assistance. We all need to act and take back our Country .
